TO LIVE TOGETHER

Denmark, 2013

Documentary

     9

Migration from rural to urban areas is a common phenomenon in Denmark, leading to over-population of the main cities and abandoned villages. But for the people living in Ottrupgård, a bofællesskab (housing cooperative) from the town of Skørping, leaving the countryside is not included in their future plans. In fact, many of its residents moved there from big cities. Presenting the quotidian life of Ottrupgård's residents, the film suggests a new approach to the issue of rural to urban migration. It aims to explore the sense of belonging to a certain place, and the elements that create it.

Made through a collaboration of the Muncipalities of Rebild and Mariagerfjord with LIFA and Aarhus University, the ethnographic film is a result of four weeks of anthropological research.
